I mentioned how I would hope in only a few years that she would remain in remission and JDM would be history forever. Unfortunately, juvenile dermatomyositis entered our lives again.
Around April of 2014, Madeline went on a beach trip and experienced a sunburn. Even though her dad and I would Madeline's Juvenile Dermatomyositishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05748241676083795299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5995292968106750078.post-12663343379536170452012-12-12T06:53:00.000-08:002012-12-12T06:53:10.398-08:00Madeline Hits the Two Year MarkWe have reached a very important milestone at the Ducote House. On December 7, we celebrated the benchmark of Madeline being in remission for 2 years. Now, we just need 3 more years to know juvenile dermatomyositis will be history forever! And we have absolute faith it will! Love you baby girl!!! Keep dancing...keep shining!
I hope this gives all of you who have children suffering from this Madeline's Juvenile Dermatomyositishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05748241676083795299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5995292968106750078.post-70742948702459769652011-10-31T08:48:00.001-07:002011-10-31T08:51:45.012-07:00Happy Halloween & Dr. Appt. TomorrowWe are excited to have some Halloween fun tonight. Madeline, and her best friend Emily, are dressing as cowgirls. I will post pictures of course. Tomorrow we head to Texas for her doctor's appointment. Her dad and I are optimistic, just nervous about what medication they will try this time. Hopefully, we can just do the same thing...which we know and are very comfortable with. Madeline's rash is back. We discovered it last night at the dinner table as she was telling a story and raised her arms explaining her scenario. And that's when her dad and I saw it clear as day...those bumps and the redness on her elbows. I instantly felt sick to my stomach. Beginning November 24, my daddy was admitted to the hospital. He passed away December 28. Thanksgiving was not celebrated, Christmas either. I've not had interest in posting on the site, and I am sorry for that.
I did want to share Madeline's beautiful story shared on our local station and developed by a great anchor Joy Howe.

After his evaluation, questions, etc. Dr. W sat down and said, "well Madeline, I guess this is going to be the last time for me to ever see you". Madeline looked at him so strangely and said, "why?". Dr. W said, "well, there's good doctors where you live and you don't need me anymore because you are in COMPLETE REMISSION!!!". She should be good to go back to school on Monday. Hard to believe our Thanksgiving break has come and gone so quickly. With Madeline being sick and my dad in the hospital, it hasn't been the best holiday. But, we did put up the Christmas decorations and it has lifted our spirits. Plus, it was Rick's birthday (the big 39) and we had fun celebrating with him. Madeline decided to stay at home with her grandparents to visit with her cousin who was spending the night too. When we got home, Madeline had spots all over her. She had two or three on her face Thursday, but I didn't think anything of them. Well, now, they are everywhere. Not unusual for Louisiana, but I'm tired of summer and really ready for some cool air so we can get in the mood for Thanksgiving...which is just around the corner. In fact, it was so hot yesterday my husband swam after mowing the yard. Really?!?!But, there's hope fall is coming. One sure sign - the black eye'd susan's blooming everywhere. Madeline and I decided to do a mini photo Madeline's Juvenile Dermatomyositishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05748241676083795299noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5995292968106750078.post-26011096464309494162010-10-21T07:35:00.000-07:002010-10-21T08:21:51.349-07:00A little sneak peek...Here is a sneak peek of Madeline's new solo - Funky Jesus Music. It's fun and makes you want to dance. She's just learning the dance so this is a rough, learning clip of probably half the dance. In the video is her teacher Colinda - one of the sweetest, talented people you could ever meet. Madeline loves her. But notice...Madeline is taller than Colinda now. She is getting very tall and very longMadeline's Juvenile Dermatomyositishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05748241676083795299noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5995292968106750078.post-62762336382831723482010-10-19T14:17:00.000-07:002010-10-19T14:23:04.061-07:00Another UpdateI've felt guilty for not updating Madeline's blog lately. But when you don't have much to talk about regarding her JDM (which is the purpose of this blog)I shouldn't feel guilty but relieved...which I am. Madeline's life has been busy with school, cheerleading, dance and friends. She is working on her new solo for competition this year.
